Montroustly Franken-tastic Halloween Bash

By: Lauren Sincerney

This Halloween, SABERS put on their second annual Monstrously Franken-tastic Halloween Bash in the Johnson Building. The event originally was going to be held in the intramural field parking lot, but due to inclement weather, it was moved inside.

All Hardin-Simmons University students were invited to come and have fun during this event. There were cake walks, a costume contest, intramural cornhole and a Trunk or Treat. For the Trunk or Treat, any group of four students could come together and create a booth of their choosing to try and win the contest of the best trunk or treat. Students signed up ahead of time and came with their best designs.

There were various groups including Cowboys and Cowgirls, Sports, Ken’s Mojo Dojo Casa House, Pixie Hollow and Pac-Man. Students who came to the event would visit every booth and collect the many giveaways and even partake in games that some booths were offering. There were also judges that came around to every booth and at the end of the night they chose the winners. The group that won were called The Fab Four. Their theme was Candyland. The prize for winning consisted of a dinner for four at Texas Roadhouse, four movie tickets and Insomnia cookie gift cards.

Overall, there were approximately 100 students who came to the Bash. Most of the attendees wore costumes in hopes of winning the Costume Contest. There were costumes ranging from ghosts, Mario, frat boys, to characters from movies. The winners of this year's costume contest went to Jake Atherton, sophomore accounting major from Bullard, and Laney Leblanc, freshman exercise science major from Bullard, who were dressed as Flynn Rider and Rapunzel from the Disney movie Tangled.

The event was a ton of fun for all students whether they ran a booth or just attended the party.
