Broadway in Abilene By: Madi B
Over the past few years musical theatre has gained a lot of popularity all over the world. This truly started when Hamilton, a show following Alexander Hamilton's life, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda was released on Disney+.
Then, since the release of the Wicked movies, Hadestown and SIX, people have become more interested in the genre. This is especially true in Abilene who partners with Nederlander National Markets to host traveling musical theatre shows each year through the convention center for one day only. In past years they have presented many well-known musicals such as Mean Girls (2025), Annie (2025), Hadestown (2026) and even Chicago (2026). This season Abilene will be welcoming Beetlejuice the Musical on Nov. 11.
Beetlejuice is a musical based on the beloved Tim Burton film. It follows a similar plot line with added songs and choreography. The show still gives the same hilarious jokes and morbid humor. The Abilene Convention Center website describes it as "a remarkably touching show about family, love and making the most of every Day-O!."
The show will take place on Nov. 11 and for one night only at the Abilene auditorium. Tickets range between $47.61 to $99.25 depending on where the seat is located. They offer a 10 percent discount for groups of 10 or more, and they do have limited handicapped accessible seating. There is also an option to buy season passes to secure seats at all of the Broadway shows coming to Abilene during 2026-2027. To purchase tickets or passes, you can go to the Abilene Convention Center website and find Beetlejuice tickets under the events tab. On the day of the show, doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. The estimated run time is two hours and 45 minutes, with an intermission between act one and act two.
If you have not yet gotten tickets to see Beetlejuice, this is not a show you want to miss. Later this year and into 2027 Abilene will get the opportunity to host more musicals such as The Bodyguard, Legally Blonde and A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.
