Hardin-Simmons University: All-School SING! By Delani Bauer
On Oct. 17 at 7:00 p.m., Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) hosted its annual All-School SING! performance in the Behrens Auditorium as part of the University's homecoming events.
Since its establishment in 1962, SING! has been a celebrated tradition at HSU. SING! brings students together during Homecoming, providing excitement to the HSU campus each fall. This year it was co-directed by Lauren Sincerney, a senior music education major from Waco, and Katie Caudle, a senior music education major from Flowermound.
The doors to the Behrens Auditorium opened at 6:30 p.m., allowing for tickets to be purchased before the show began. All seating was general admission. Many family members, friends, students and faculty filled the auditorium with great eagerness. As one of the most highly attended campus events, SING! drew a large crowd this year.
Anticipation for the event had been growing around the HSU campus for many weeks. Students chalked the sidewalks encouraging attendance to the event and advertising for their specific club.
Many social clubs also documented their preparations and practices on social media, giving students a glimpse into the time and effort that went into preparing for the annual performances.
Students spend weeks getting ready for SING!, practicing their dances, and making sure everyone is in sync. Each club puts in hours of work leading up to the big night, from learning choreography to practicing together. Each group’s weeks of preparation came together in outstanding performances from all groups involved.
HSU’s Kappa Phi Omega Social Club took first place overall in the Fall 2026 All-School SING!. The group also earned awards for best creativity and best choreography, adding to Kappa’s successful yore theme.
Kappa’s theatrical rendition featured a jousting tournament in which two knights faced off to be the next Kappa leader. The group’s imaginative concept, creative interpretation and unique costume design helped make its routine stand out, validating their well-deserved win.
The runner-up for the 2026 All-School SING! competition was Freshman Sing. The group also received the award for Outstanding Vocal Performance, recognizing its vocal talent throughout the show. The Good News Buckaroos, a student gospel sharing group, won SING!’s Best Interact award.
SING! serves as an opportunity for HSU social clubs to come together and showcase their creativity, teamwork and school spirit during Homecoming week. All students are encouraged to get involved, participate and create community within HSU.
