Hardin-Simmons University Finals Week By Delani Bauer

As the Spring 2026 semester comes to a close at Hardin-Simmons University (HSU), finals week is rapidly approaching.  HSU’s finals will be held Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7.  Following finals week, a commencement ceremony will be held on May 8 for all graduating HSU seniors.

A finals schedule has been posted with each class block having a designated exam time.  Students are expected to show up prepared for each designated time.  Final exams may be cumulative or non-cummulative up to the professor’s discretion.

Quick Studying Tips

Always be prepared.  Bring all required materials to each test.  This may include sharpened pencils, erasers, calculators and scratch paper.  Professors may send reminders regarding any additional materials required.

Bring the right mindset.  A final is just like any other exam, and all HSU professors have fully prepared their students to succeed on each final.  Professors are there to answer any questions students may have regarding the exam or preparing for the exam.

Start studying ahead of time.  It is never too early to begin studying for finals.  Cumulative exams cover the duration of the semester, so you can begin preparing by looking over old notes and assignments.  Studying old exams is an excellent way to ensure mastery over all subject areas.

Complete exam study guides.  Many professors comprise study guides specifically for each exam.  It is important to review this information to perform well on each exam.

Mark your calendars.  Most exam times are not concurrent with normal class meeting times.  Ensure that you are on time to each exam by setting a timer or writing down exam times.

Color code your notes.  Color coding your notes and information is a great way to organize information in your head.  It makes your notes more legible and easy to view, organizing information in a creative way.

Ask questions and create community.  Creating study groups in each class is a great way to cultivate community and learn new information.  Each student brings a different perspective on knowledge and a new opportunity to learn together.  Ask peers or any professors questions regarding which material to study before the exams.
