Hardin-Simmons University Hosts Night of Worship by Delani Bauer
Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) hosted a Night of Worship on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. in Logsdon Chapel.. The event was organized by HSU’s Worship Ensemble and the Spiritual Formation’s Office.
The worship night was student-led, consisting of students from HSU’s Chapel Band and Worship Ensemble. The event brought the campus together for an evening of worship, prayer, reflection and scripture, providing the opportunity for students to build community.
All students, faculty, and community members were encouraged to attend. Current HSU students who attended received one chapel credit.
The set list included the songs: “Reasons (Live),” “Made For More,” “Abide,” "Father’s House,” "Nothing Else,” “’Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus” and "The Lord Will Provide.”
The worship-filled atmosphere provided students with an opportunity to connect with Christ on a personal level. Hannah Albin, a senior worship leadership major from Mansfield, said her favorite part was “seeing God meet each person in the room where they are at, whether it’s in a high or low season.”
Times of prayer were included throughout the evening, giving attendees a quiet moment to reflect and allow God to meet them where they are. “It’s a great time of worship,” Albin said.
HSU’s Spiritual Formation Program and events were established to walk alongside students in their spiritual growth beginning throughout their time at HSU. HSU encourages spiritual formation as a lifelong journey of witnessing and growing in God’s love and distinguishes the University as an education enlightened by faith.
HSU’s Spiritual Formations Program is centered around the belief of beholding Jesus, becoming like Jesus and being bold with God’s love. Spiritual Formation events are centered around cultivating a relationship with Christ, discovering your purpose in a relationship with God and acting as servant leaders to spread the word of God. Future nights of worship will be held in Logsdon Chapel throughout the semester. All students are encouraged to attend and spend time in worship. For updates on upcoming worship events, follow the HSU Chapel Band on Instagram @hsuchapelband.
