By Dayna Steyn, HSU Theatre Department Promotions Director
The HSU Theatre Department’s fall season has featured two productions and a musical showcase, with "1776" scheduled for Nov. 19-22 at the Van Ellis Theatre.
The season opened with "Wait Until Dark," a suspense thriller directed by senior theatre education major Mackenzie Marshall. The cast included Sam Strawn as Susan Hendrix, Anthony DeLaGarza as Roat, Tyler Boone as Mike, Vance Loveless as Carlino, Elyse Jacobs as Gloria, and Justice Villalobos as Sam Hendrix, supported by a student production team.

The department followed with "Daisy Pulls It Off," directed by Dr. Victoria Spangler. Rachel Mastick portrayed Daisy Meredith, India Vogt played Sybil Burlington, and Mallory O’Neal appeared as Trixie Martin, alongside an ensemble cast.

Between productions, students performed songs from Broadway and beyond in Pops at the Pond on the Van Ellis stage.

The upcoming production of "1776" explores the debates and decisions leading to American independence, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding. It will run from November 19-22 in Van Ellis Theatre.
