Get ready to bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets and snacks to settle in for a fantastic time with friends, because Pops at the Pond (Pops) is returning at 6 p.m. on Sept. 27, for its annual appearance on the Hardin-Simmons University Campus.
Pops is a musical theater showcase where both theater and music students perform various songs ranging from ballads and classical jazz to comedic pieces. This is a free, public event which means anyone and everyone is invited.
“Pops is an absolutely amazing time,” Hannah Cauthen, sophomore theater education major from Abilene, said. “We have so much talent in the HSU Department of Theatre and this is the perfect way to showcase their talents. This will be my first time performing and I am beyond excited.”
Pops will be hosted by the pond on Anderson Lawn and is unique in that the audience is allowed to sit close to the stage providing a more personal interaction with the performers and resulting in a unique environment where you can fully immerse yourself with the music. With music for everyone, this is the perfect opportunity to get outside, enjoy the weather, and spend time with loved ones.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to support our amazing artists,” Bekah Shirley, junior theater major and business minor from Cleveland, said. “I am so honored to be performing at this event.”
“I'm super excited to get a chance to share some of what I've been working on,” Amber Cardenas junior musical theater major from Houston, said. “I can’t wait to see what everyone else in our department has up their sleeves.”
