SABERS: Pizza Party and Hang By: Delani Bauer

On April 9, Hardin-Simmons University’s (HSU) student activities board (SABERS) hosted a pizza picnic and hangout on Anderson Lawn beginning at noon.  The picnic lasted around an hour, featuring fun, games, upbeat music and an opportunity to connect with one another.

The pizza party was a fun and delicious way to bring together current HSU students and faculty for an afternoon of spring weather.  With warm sunshine and clear skies, everyone was  reminded that spring had fully arrived at HSU, creating the perfect atmosphere for a campus gathering.

Attendees enjoyed a wide assortment of pizza, while relaxing on the lawn.  Options included a variety of traditional pizza toppings and more unique combinations, ensuring that there was something for everyone.  Pizza was provided free for all attendees, giving everyone in attendance an opportunity to enjoy lunch and connect with one another.

Hammocks were set up throughout shady areas on the lawn, providing places for students to recline and enjoy their lunch.  Many took advantage of the comfortable seating options, allowing them a spot to relax in the warm weather.

In addition to food and relaxation, a variety of yard games were dispersed throughout the lawn.  The assortment of games allowed students to challenge one another in a friendly competition.  Students had the opportunity to play football and cornhole, creating teams for each game. The games were open to all skill levels, encouraging everyone to join in, regardless of experience.

Events like SABERS pizza picnic highlight the strong sense of community that defines the HSU campus. By providing opportunities for students to engage with each other, these activities cultivate relationships across campus.  All students are encouraged to join in on all campus-wide events and enjoy the fun and fellowship that HSU has to offer.
