SABERS: Pumpin’ Up Galantine's Day Party

On Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Hardin-Simmons University's (HSU) Student Activities Board (SABERS) hosted their annual Galantine's Day Event.

The event was held in the Johnson Building multipurpose room and displayed an array of Valentine’s Day-themed colors and decorations.  This year’s theme, Pumpin’ Up the Party, was inspired by the show Hannah Montana.  Episodes of the show played in the background as female students entered the party.

The event was open to all HSU female students, celebrating Valentine’s Day in a special way.  Attendees were encouraged to wear pajamas and comfortable clothing as they appreciated an evening of pampering themselves.

The girls enjoyed breakfast while watching Hannah Montana and crafting with friends.  The food selection included Chick-Fil-A nuggets, Market Street breakfast pizza and various flavors of Dirty Dough waffle bites and sauces.  An assortment of fruits and sodas were also served with reusable Valentine’s Day-themed twisty straws.

Each girl was greeted with a gift bag of assorted prizes.  The bag included house slippers, eye masks, face masks and satin sleep masks.Tables were set up at each side of the room to create customized crafts.

A table was arranged with mini irons to decorate each girl's house slippers.  A variety of iron-on patches helped make each girl’s slippers uniquely their own.  Girls filled the tables uniquely arranging their slipper designs and sharing in the excitement of creating something special.

Each girl had the opportunity to call upon their artistic talents while making their own custom, crocheted flower bouquet.  Pink, purple, white and red flowers adorned with ribbon made up colorful flower arrangements for each girl to bring home.  These forever flowers are the perfect reminder of the beauty of Valentine’s Day.

A Hannah Montana-themed photo background was set up for girls to take Polaroid pictures to remember their time at SABER’s Galentines Day Party.

The event, hosted by Megan Mckinney, director of Student Engagement, was a huge success, helping HSU’s female students celebrate the amazing women in their life.
