The 2026 HSU Homecoming is almost here, with the anticipation for the event growing as we get closer.

With many different things happening to celebrate, there is so much to look forward to. But the most exciting part of Homecoming has to be the annual SING! competition, where Greek life, freshmen and upperclassmen compete to see who can put on the best show.

Gianna Guttuso is a sophomore instrumental music education major, specializing in piano, from Sevierville, Tenn. She is co-directing the freshmen performance at SING!.

“My favorite part has been getting to work with so many different people and watching everything come together,” Guttuso said. “It has been fun seeing an idea turn into an actual show, especially after all the rehearsals and work that go into it.”

Gutusso has been part of SING! as a freshman performer and now as a sophomore director.

“This is my second year being a part of SING!,” Guttuso said. “Last year, I participated in Freshman SING!, and this year I’m directing. I wanted to be involved again because I loved my experience last year and wanted the opportunity to help create that same experience for this year’s freshmen. Our group has put a lot of time and effort into making the show fun and memorable. We have a lot of different personalities and majors represented in our group, and I think that comes through in the show. We’re excited for people to see what we’ve been working on.”

Guttuso hopes that those who come see the shows enjoy the experience and all of the different acts that will be taking place.

“People can expect a fun and entertaining show with lots of energy, music, choreography and a story,” Guttuso said. “Each group has its own unique take on the competition, so there will be something different from every group. I would just encourage people to come out and support all of the groups. Everyone has put a lot of work into their shows, and it’s exciting to finally get to share them with everyone.”

Be sure to come to SING! on Oct. 17 and see all of the amazing groups and shows that these teams have been working on tirelessly.
