The Brand is hosting its second annual photography contest for current students attending Hardin-Simmons University.
Students who want to participate should email their best picture of the natural beauty of campus to thebrandhsu@gmail.com using their HSU email by April 19 for a chance to receive a prize of $100 for first place, $75 for second place, $50 for third place and $25 for three honorable mentions. Each of the winners and honorable mentions’ photographs will be published in The Brand’s online website.
For the submission to be judged, the photo must be sent as a .jpeg file. Along with the picture, students must include their name, classification, major, and hometown. The picture can only have been taken at taken during the 2023-2024 school year.
Some spots on campus that would be perfect to use in this competition is the pond, flowerbeds around campus in bloom and the trees changing color in the fall. As long as the picture is of nature on campus, it could be used as a submission to this contest.
The pictures will be judged by three local photographers who are members of the West Texas Photographic Society. The winners will be announced on May 2.
“The HSU Brand has been working on making the publication more open for all students to participate in it,” Abbey Pardue, staff writer for The Brand and junior business administration major from Lubbock, said. “This photo contest is a great way to get the campus involved, and having such a beautiful campus to fill our phones with pictures of is a really fun perk.”
