The Winners of The Brand’s First Photography Contest By: Emily Williamson

On behalf of the HSU Brand staff, our faculty advisors and myself, thank you to all Hardin-Simmons University students who submitted a photo for the Brand’s First Photography Contest. While Brand staff members were not involved in the process of selecting the winners and we were ineligible to make submissions ourselves, we thoroughly enjoyed reviewing all of the entries.

After our panel of judges reviewed the submissions anonymously, they identified first place, second place, third place, and honorable mention winners. The photos and the winning photographers are presented below.

The first place submission came from Molly Provost, a senior psychology major from Bowie. Provost took this photo at Lake Fort Phantom here in Abilene.

The second place submission was entered by Garret Rothans, a junior business administration major from Austin. Rothans took this photo at Haleakalā National Park in Maui, Hawaii.

The third place photo was submitted by Esther Flowers, a sophomore strategic communications major from Garland. Flowers took this photo at Mykonos Island in Greece.

The judges also selected a series of photos as honorable mentions. Those photos and their photographers are listed below.

This honorable mention photo was taken by Andrea Ashburn, a junior exercise science major from McAllen. Her sunset photo was taken in Mykonos, Greece, on the Honors Program Trip in May 2022.

The next honorable mention was taken by Madison Page in Tolar. Page is a sophomore biology major from Southlake.

The final honorable mention photo selected by the judges was taken on HSU’s campus by Madison Lewis. Lewis is a senior strategic communications and Christian studies major from Goldthwaite.
