On Sept. 11, over 100 staff, faculty and students alike joined together in prayer at Hardin-Simmons University for a Night of Worship, which was located and held at the Logsdon Chapel.
The function lasted just over an hour from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Songs, devotion and scripture were spread and shared through the night as the student choir sang songs of worship, God, Jesus and His love and mercy, with lyrics and verses that promoted devotion and worship. The event was hosted by the College of Arts and Media and it gave the choir a chance to perform more complicated songs than the ones that would usually be performed for any other church service.
“My favorite part of the event was getting to hear so many talented voices lift up praise to the Lord,” Selah Appuglies, a sophomore strategic communications major from Abilene who attended the Night of Worship, said. “I always love when the music quiets and everyone sings together and you can hear all the voices— it makes me think of heaven.”
As of current, according to the school’s calendar, there is no news that there will be another Night of Worship performance exactly like the one previously held, but there will be other worship services opportunities available to students and staff to join in prayer throughout the school year hosted by different organizations. Such as the Homecoming HSU family worship event which will be held on Oct. 5, from 9:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m, once again being located int the Logsdon Chapel and it will be organized by the HSU Alumni Service.
Students, staff and faculty will have another chance to come together to bond and connect with one another under the Lord's love and mercy, in uplifting and worshipping Him, and the next service will provide similar experiences and everyone is welcome to join, just as with the Night of Worship.
“It was a very calm and peaceful experience,” said Appuglies, “It was refreshing to set my mind back on the Lord and how good and sovereign he is.”
