Celebrate the Season at Hardin-Simmons University's Fall Fest By: Delani Bauer

Hardin-Simmons University’s (HSU) Student Activities Board (SABERS), in collaboration with HSU’s Residence Life, will host the annual Fall Fest on Wednesday, Nov. 19, on Anderson Lawn. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue throughout the evening.

Fall Fest is one of HSU’s most attended student traditions, designed to bring the campus community together for a night of food, activities and fall-themed fun. The event takes place each November and serves as a way for students to relax and connect before final exams begin.

“My favorite part about Fall Fest is the mugs.”  Ashleigh Powers, senior chemistry major from Hurst, said. “Every year I enjoy putting a piece of the delicious pie from the event in my mug. I have a collection from all three years at HSU, this year will be my fourth.”

Students will receive a free fall themed mug in exchange for a can of food for their canned food drive. Each year the design changes, but the tradition continues with this year’s fall theme. A complimentary mashed potato bar will also be available for all participants, featuring a variety of toppings. The customizable bar gives students the chance to create their own personalized dish.

Students are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or use the ones set out on the lawn for the event. The beautiful lawn allows students to gather in small groups, enjoy the cool weather and take part in a shared campus experience.

EspressOak Coffee, a local mobile espresso bar, will serve free coffee and specialty drinks from 5 to 6 p.m. for the first 75 students. The partnership with a local business highlights Hardin-Simmons’ connection to the Abilene community and gives students a chance to sample local flavors without leaving campus.

Fall-themed photo stations will also be available throughout the evening. The setup and decorations will provide a festive backdrop for students to capture photos with friends and commemorate the evening.

Fall Fest continues to be one of the University’s most popular campus events, combining food, community and seasonal celebration in a relaxed outdoor setting. The event is open to all students and aims to promote connection and school spirit across campus.
