Spring Sweets: Students Favorite Places to Get Ice Cream By: Megan Jewell

Updated: Mar 20

As the spring season is quickly approaching, it is a wonderful time of the year to enjoy ice cream.

Hardin-Simmons University students were recently surveyed to find out where their favorite place to get ice cream is located. They were given the options of: Roll Shack, Cold Stone Creamery, Baskin Robbins, 2 Profs Gourmet Ice Cream, Mary’s Paleteria, Dairy Queen and Sonic.

Roll Shack was voted to be the favorite place for the majority of students to get ice cream in Abilene.

“I choose Roll Shack mainly because it is a different type of ice cream than all the others, and it is a nice place to meet up with a couple of friends to hang out,” Anne Rangel, a sophomore biochemistry and molecular biology double major from Curitiba, Brazil, said.

“I love Roll Shack. I’ve never had rolled ice cream before coming to college, and this place has changed my life,” Kaitlyn Beutel, a freshman nursing major from Keller, said. “They have so many yummy flavors and combinations to choose from. My favorite is the strawberry one. It has strawberries, graham crackers and cream in it, and it is super good. Roll Shack is definitely my favorite ice cream place to go to.”

Coming in second place behind Roll Shack was 2 Profs Gourmet Ice Cream.

“I chose 2 Profs Gourmet Ice Cream because I am dairy free, and they have some delicious ice and fruit-based options,” Beth Ferguson, senior social work major from Spurs, said.

Enjoy this spring season and remember to cool off from the heat by eating some ice cream.
