Peyton McKenzie's Testimony By: Emily Slaughter

“From hidden hurt to His glory, my smile tells the story”

Chapel at Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) is a wonderful time to dwell with community and listen to testimony that can inspire our faith in Christ.

Peyton McKenzie, a sophomore  biochemistry major from Arlington, will be presenting her testimony on Nov. 6. On campus she is a part of Tri Phi and the Honors Program. She is very active and connected with her church, South Side Baptist.

“I am going to share my testimony and how I have seen God’s goodness throughout the deaths of my parents and the suffering involved.” McKenzie said. “Everyone will go through suffering at some point in their lives; they should lean on God throughout it. He is eternal and will always be there for you even when you can’t feel it. I am nervous to speak in front of so many people, but I am excited to see how the Lord uses it.”

McKenzie has a couple of her close friends who have shared how hearing her testimony impacted their faith.

“Peyton's testimony shows me what it means to really find joy in the Lord.”  Charlotte Benkert, a sophomore English major from Poulsbo, Wash. said. “Seeing one of my closest friends continue to lean on Jesus through it all, and not only that but also seeing her testify to others about the goodness of God is truly inspiring.”

“Peyton’s story is a testament of God’s unwavering mercy and grace.” Jesimae Gamez, a sophomore Christian studies major from Dimmitt, said. “If her story has shown me anything, it’s that no matter the hardship or trials that come our way, if we are willing to rely on God through the pain, he will deliver us out.”

It is clear that God has had a powerful effect on McKenzie’s life. His grace shines through her and to the people around her.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is going to be revealed in us” Romans 8:18
