The Fletcher Lecture Series by: Emily Slaughter

In the Fall of 2025 at Hardin-Simmons University (HSU), students and faculty will have the opportunity to attend the Fletcher Lecture series on campus.

“The Fletcher Lecture Series is named for former HSU president, Dr. Jesse C. Fletcher and honors his legacy of intellectual curiosity and faith-driven leadership,”  Laurin Kocurek, Communications and Content Strategy specialist who works on the planning committee for this seminar, said. “The series reinforces HSU’s mission to equip students with both professional insight and enduring values. The lecture series brings nationally recognized leaders to campus to explore big ideas at the intersection of business, science, faith and public life. Each event sparks meaningful dialogue while connecting students, faculty and staff with the broader West Texas community.”

This series is going to unravel and spark new ideas and creativity from both faculty and students throughout their day to day and continue growth in their various fields.

“The series is in partnership with the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and runs throughout the fall 2025 semester and the 2026 spring and fall semesters,” Kocurek said. “Sponsors include First Financial Bank, First Financial Trust, KRBC/KTAB, Condley and Company, LLP, and Browning Law Firm, PLLC.”

  • Jeff Williams (Oct. 7): Former Mayor of Arlington and president/CEO of Graham Associates.
