Friendsgiving

By: Lauren Sincerney

To celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and break, SABERS put on a Friendsgiving.

It was held on Nov. 16, on Anderson Lawn. All HSU students were invited and encouraged to wear their best flannel outfits. The party included a trail mix bar filled with many different options you could put into a small white popcorn box, and a drink stand with hot chocolate, pumpkin spice lattes and vanilla chai.

There were also games like spikeball and connect four. There were also craft tables where students could go and decorate their popcorn boxes or create paper plate hand turkeys. A professional photographer was also there to take pictures of students and their friends.

Bonnie Vander Schaaf, a freshman art major from Quitman said, “I went to Friendsgiving because I wanted to be around people and because I heard there was free food. I also liked the mood of the party. It was friendly and calm. Plus the snacks were good.” There were approximately100 people who came to the party.

SABERS asked HSU student Katelyn Rowan to take the photos. Rowan is a junior business administration and studio art double major from College Station. She has her own photography business that specializes in portraits, seniors, couples and events. “I was asked to take photos at Friendsgiving and I thought it sounded like it would be really fun. I've been taking photos for a few years and I really enjoy working with people and groups,” Rowan said.
