Ring Ceremony Preview By: Brett Briggeman

Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) will be hosting the traditional graduate ring ceremony on April 10 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., with each time slot representing a different group of graduates.

At 3 p.m., rings will be presented to graduates from the Holland School of Science and Mathematics and the College of Health Professions. At 6 p.m., rings will be presented to graduates from the Kelley College of Business and Professional Studies, College of Arts and Media, Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts and the Logsdon School of Theology.

Laurie Harris is the Director of Alumni Engagement and works to connect with alumni and the HSU family, bringing people back to the University and their love for their alma mater.

“My favorite part of my role is getting to celebrate with students and their families as part of one of their biggest accomplishments in life,” Harris said. “Seeing the excitement and sigh of relief that they have almost made it to the finish line is so fun.”

“The ring ceremony is a celebration of our students graduating in May,” Harris said. “Soon-to-be graduates will receive their unique HSU ring that is provided for free to qualifying students through a special unity program. Students will be presented their ring by President Eric Bruntmyer, will then ring the ceremonial bell and finally will write their name in the HSU ring book.”

The ceremony will be held in Logsdon Chapel where May 2026 as well as some Aug. 2026 graduates, who have met graduation requirements, will be in attendance. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend. The ring itself has many aspects that are symbolic of the graduates' time at HSU.

“The ring represents the graduate’s personal accomplishments by graduating from HSU,” Harris said. “The Official Ring also symbolizes Hardin-Simmons with its traditions and great history. Thus, the Official Ring celebrates a new tradition and each student's graduation; they are also taking with them a happy reminder of their Hardin-Simmons University experience that will remain a part of their life forever.”

Congratulations to our May 2026 and Aug. 2026 graduates for this impressive accomplishment. Be sure to come out and support our graduates April 10.
