SABERS Easter Duck Hunt By: Delani Bauer

Hardin-Simmons University's (HSU) Student Activities Board (SABERS) hosted their annual campuswide Easter duck hunt on Tuesday, March 31.

All students were encouraged to bring a friend and participate in the Easter egg hunt- modeled activity.

Colorful ducks were hidden across the HSU campus for students to find.  The hunt began at 8:00 a.m. and was set to conclude once the final duck was found.

A total of 25 colorful, themed ducks were spread out throughout campus.  Each color duck corresponds to a different prize.

Fifteen animal ducks were hidden and redeemable for a variety of mystery gift cards.  Three purple ducks were redeemable for Stanley cups.  Two surfer ducks were hidden and redeemable for Owala water bottles.  Three green owl ducks were redeemable for igloo coolers.  Additionally, two mini ducks were hidden and redeemable for the grand prize: the student’s choice of either a pair of On Clouds or an electric scooter.  The choice for mini duck prizes were first-come, first-served.

This spring, ducks were hidden around the HSU campus around several well-know buildings.  These included Newman-Richardson’s lawn, around the outside of Richardson Library, near the Fletcher Fitness Center, outside of the Johnson Building, outside of the Moody Student Center and around the outside of Sandefer.  All ducks were hidden in outside areas.

Some ducks were easier to spot than others, with some being hidden in hard-to-spot places.  Students were on the lookout for ducks of all shapes, sizes and colors.

Students who found a duck directly messaged the SABERS Instagram account (@hsu_sabers) with a picture of their winning duck.  Instructions were then sent to each winner on how to redeem their prize.  Prizes were limited to one per current HSU student.

SABERS regularly hosts engaging, campus-wide events throughout the year to celebrate holidays and bring students together.  Those interested in getting involved or staying updated on future events are encouraged to follow @hsu_sabers on Instagram.
